Assessment Testing Services

Testing services for students, faculty, and the community are available at four LBCC campuses. Policies are the same for all center locations. 

Important Testing Center Policies

  • Photo ID is required for all testing (some tests require current government issued photo ID)
  • Pictures of photo ID are not accepted
  • Only authorized materials are allowed in the testing room
  • No cell phones are allowed in testing rooms
  • Only test takers and LBCC staff are allowed in the testing room (No children)
  • Proctored tests for other Colleges/Agencies require an appointment be made a miniumum of 48 hours in advance.  Students using proctoring services need to be familiar with our policies.
  • Testing ends 15 minutes before the test center closes

Services for Students and Community

Placement (Writing, Reading and Math)

New students may need to take a placement assessment to determine what level of math and writing classes to register for.  The assessment is not pass or fail - instead, the goal is to determine  current skill levels in order to ensure success at LBCC.  Preparing for the assessment is important - the higher placement, the fewer classes needed, which means more time and money saved!

Follow these steps


Chemistry Placement

The chemistry placement test is designed for students that have completed one year of high school chemistry and math 95. The chemistry placement test has 50 multiple choice questions and is timed at 60 minutes. The three parts of the test are; mathematics, problem solving, and general chemistry. A score of 30 or higher will allow students to bypass chemistry 150.  Two attempts are allowed.

There is no fee for this test.  


Spanish Placement

The Spanish placement test is a 75 question, multiple choice and fill-in the blank un-timed exam.  This test will place students into the correct Spanish class ranging from Spanish 101 to 201.  

There is no fee for this test.  

These tests are walk in on the Albany campus.  Check the available testing hours.

CS 120 Digital Literacy Waiver Test

Passing the CS 120 waiver test allows students to bypass the CS 120 class. 

To pass the CS 120 Digital Literacy waiver test, students should be familiar with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, etc.), Google Drive (Docs, Sheets, etc.), computer terminology, basic computer hardware/software systems, computer components and their functions.  The exam is 90 minutes and consists of 60 multiple choice questions.  

Only one attempt is allowed (no retests).  A score of 42 (70%) or higher is a pass. 

There is a $10 fee and the fee must be paid at the the Business office (CC 130) prior to checking in for the test.  Note:  If testing on a Saturday, the Business Office is closed and the payment  will need to be made in advance.

College Level Exam Program (CLEP)

The College Level Examination Program is the most widely accepted credit-by-examination program in the country.  Linn-Benton Community College is an open testing site for anyone wishing to take CLEP exams.

Although, LBCC offers all 33 CLEP exams, Admissions and Registration does not accept all CLEP exams for credit at LBCC.

Make-Up and Accommodation Testing for LBCC Classes

Student Assessment provides testing services for LBCC students that are unable to take a test during their regularly scheduled test session.  We also work with Center for Accessibility Resources to provide students with approved accommodated testing. 

Student Guidelines
To take a make-up test in Student Assessment:

  • Know the class (i.e. Biology 101, Engineering 213)
  • Know the instructors first and last name
  • Know the testing hours for Student Assessment.  Tests must be finished 15 minutes before closing time.
  • Photo ID is required to test.  Copies or pictures of ID are not accepted.
  • Only approved items are allowed in the testing room.  Cell phones are not allowed.  Lockers are available for use.
      
  • Children are not allowed in testing rooms

Computerized tests: Appointments are required for all exams that need a computer. Without an appointment we cannot guarantee a computer will be available.

Give yourself plenty of time to complete your test.  **You will need to be finished 15 minutes before the office closes.

Proctoring Services

Student Assessment proctors exams for other colleges, universities and agencies. 

The cost for this service is $30 per test.  The fee must be paid prior to testing and a receipt presented at the time of testing.  The fee can be paid at the Business office in Calapooia Center Bldg. room 130.

Note:  If testing on a Saturday, the Business Office is closed and the payment  will need to be made in advance.

Degree Partnership Program (DPP) students testing for Oregon State or Oregon Institute of Technology and are currently enrolled in an LBCC class do not need to pay the proctor fee.  At the time of testing,  proof of current enrollment will need to be provided.  DPP students not currently enrolled in a LBCC course and is testing for Oregon State or OIT, will pay $30 per term for all tests they need to take within the current term.

Appointments are required for proctored tests.  Proctor appointments must be made 48 business hours in advance.  All testing materials must be received by the Student Assessment office before we will schedule an appointment.

GED® General Education Development Test

Student Assessment is an approved testing site for the GED®.  The GED® is a series of four tests; Reasoning through Language Arts, Social Studies, Science and Math.  The GED® provides a way to earn an equivalency certificate for individuals who have not graduated from high school.  It is widely accepted by employers, colleges and apprenticeship programs.

Pearson Vue Testing

Linn Benton Community College is an authorized Pearson VUE testing center. Pearson VUE authorized test centers are third-party testing facilities which provide on-site, on-demand testing for certification and professional licensure exams. Student Assessment offers an extensive list of Pearson VUE exams.  The following are a few of the most common tests administered:

Benton Center Testing

Testing at the Benton Center is located in The Learning and Career Center (LCC) room 222.

  • Include instructor name and course name on each test.
  • Do not bring "master" copies.  You should attach enough copies of the test for the students testing.  If you want Student Assessment to make copies then you need to upload the test.
  • Indicate which aids are allowed or needed during testing. Items not listed will not be allowed.
  • Benton Center Testing does not provide scantrons or blue books.
  • Benton Center Testing does not time tests.  We will time stamp the test and the student will keep their own time.
  •  Photo ID will be required to pick up tests. If you are not the one who will pick up the tests, list the person(s) on the form who are authorized by you to do so.
  • We do not test entire classes, including online classes.
  • We will not send tests back through campus mail.

  • Multiple tests/quizzes/finals for the same class can be requested on one form using the “Next Test” button.
  • Request testing appointments at least 5 business days prior to test date.
  • It is highly recommended that you schedule all of your tests, for the entire term, using your syllabus, as early as possible.
  • Instructors will be emailed a link to submit proctoring directions and tests to the Lebanon Testing Center.
  • If your request is not approved, you will be emailed an explanation, along with instructions for making changes and resubmitting the form.
