World Languages

The study of world languages opens the door to a deeper understanding of art, music, cuisine, films, and other points of view. International travel becomes easier with each additional language you know. Additionally, according to research, studying another language improves your memory and your listening skills, helps keep your brain young, and can even delay the onset of diseases such as Alzheimer's.

LBCC’s world languages program will help you cultivate a more analytical mind, enrich your understanding of other cultures, and offer a new perspective on your own culture.

Interested in Studying Abroad?

Although LBCC doesn't offer any study abroad opportunities, Oregon State University, the University of Oregon, and many other four-year universities do.

Participating in a study abroad program is an investment in yourself that provides an opportunity like no other to enhance your language proficiency skills. Studying abroad is also a great way to have fun, experience different cultures, and expand your view of the world.

Most study abroad programs require a level of language proficiency prior to going. LBCC offers Spanish language courses to help prepare you for a variety of different study abroad opportunities in Spanish-speaking countries. Note, Spanish language proficiency is a valuable skill that employers seek out and incentivize.
