Student Leadership Council

Albany Campus
Forum, Room 120

Join a club for fun and connection. Join a co-curricular for growth and experience. Both are valuable ways to make the most of your time at LBCC.

Student life at LBCC is about more than just going to class—it's about finding your community, exploring your interests, and growing your skills. Whether you're looking for a fun way to connect with others or a deeper way to engage with your academic program, there’s a place for you here.

Clubs are student-led groups centered around shared interests, hobbies, cultures, or identities. They’re open to all students and are a great way to meet new people, host events, and build a sense of belonging on campus. Examples include the Garden Club, Dance Club, Tabletop Games, and GSA.

Co-Curriculars are tied to specific academic or support programs and are typically guided by a faculty or staff member. These groups offer real-world experience, leadership development, and hands-on learning that complements your studies. Students are often required to be enrolled in a related program or course to participate. Examples include Civil Discourse, Journalism, and Automotive.

How Clubs Work

Club Manual     Club Advisors Handbook (coming soon)

LBCC's Council of Clubs makes it possible for clubs to pool resources, work together on common issues, share ideas and sponsor joint events that benefit all clubs. Please send a representative of your club to the bi-weekly Council of Clubs meeting! The more clubs that participate, the greater the value. Council of Clubs meets every other week. See the campus calendar for current schedule.

Interested in starting a new club? All you need is an idea, an advisor, and at least eight club members. New clubs may request up to $100 to get started and can present a budget for materials or activities to the Council of Clubs for additional funding at any time during the academic year. Clubs hold a variety of fundraisers and other events throughout the year.

A Club Expo is held at the beginning of winter term in which members showcase their clubs’ offerings and provide information about meeting times and places. LBCC's Welcome Day, College Night, Earth Day, and Mayfest are other annual venues in which to participate and earn funds. Some clubs also choose to host a courtyard lunch in October or May to promote their organizations and earn incentive funds.

Learn more about how to get started in the Club Manual above.

Auto Tech (RMP Club)

Co-Curricular

The Auto Tech co-curricular "RPM Club" at LBCC brings together automotive enthusiasts to collaborate on hands-on projects, build technical skills, and create a strong sense of community around cars and motorsports. Members work on a variety of project vehicles—including everything from performance upgrades on trucks and imports to experimental EV builds—while gaining real-world experience in diagnostics, modifications, and shop management. The club also organizes signature events like Dyno Days, where students run vehicles on the dynamometer, learn about tuning, and showcase their work to the broader LBCC community. Fundraising through apparel sales, vendor partnerships, and creative projects helps keep the club’s activities self-sustaining while teaching members how to manage budgets and outreach.

Beyond the shop, RPM Club hosts fun and inclusive social events such as ping-pong tournaments, movie nights, and go-kart outings, giving students a chance to connect outside of class. Members also participate local cars and coffee meets, swap meets, and track days to engage with the larger automotive culture in the Willamette Valley. With leadership opportunities for both first- and second-year students, the club provides a supportive environment to practice teamwork, build confidence, and prepare for automotive careers while having fun along the way.

Change Makers

Co-Curricular

We meet twice a month during the term and are involved in project both on and off campus.

Hosted by the Education/HDFS Department, our co-curricular extends classroom learning into the community. Together, we explore local social inequalities, advocate for meaningful change, and design sustainable solutions for both LBCC and the surrounding communities.

Through hands-on projects, members gain valuable professional work experience in a supportive environment while collaborating with peers who are passionate about making a difference. We frequently partner with local community organizations in Human Services and other helping fields, building connections and strengthening community impact.

Join us to learn, serve, and grow while working toward positive, lasting change!

Cheese Club

Club

The Cheese Club is a grate place for students to connect over a shared love of cheese and community. Members meet once a week to sample a variety of cheeses — from the familiar to the truly brie-lliant — and to enjoy time together in a relaxed, welcoming setting. The club also hosts a lactose-free week each term, ensuring that everyone can share in the experience!

While the Cheese Club may be full of cheesy humor, its purpose is meaningful: to create friendships and help combat food insecurity on campus. By gathering around food and conversation, members support one another and foster a sense of belonging that’s anything but bleu. It's a community built on connection, kindness, and just the right amount of cheese.

Co-Curricular

Competitive livestock judging is a co-curricular activity that is an integral part of LBCC's Animal Science program. Students need not be an agriculture major or have any prior judging experience to participate. The benefits extend beyond the learning and applying of current selection criteria. Communication skills, critical thinking and teamwork are essential personal development characteristics that evolve as a result of the time and effort expended. These valuable developmental traits are of great benefit regardless of future endeavors students ultimately select.

The purpose of the Rad Tech co-curricular is to strengthen leadership skills, learn functions of a board of directors, enhance community involvement, and plan/execute events and fundraisers. Objectives of the co-curricular include planning fundraising events over the course of one year to pay for a graduation celebration, a legacy gift for future cohorts, and a scholarship fund.
