Faculty Approval Types


Type 1

Lower Division Transfer Standard Approval - Individual meets all requirements for approval:

Master’s degree in subject matter area to be taught OR master’s degree in other field with:

  • at least 27 quarter hours/18 semester hours of graduate credit in academic courses in the field of primary teaching assignment AND
  • at least 24 quarter hours/16 semester hours of graduate credit in academic courses in each secondary subject.

 

Type 2

Lower Division Transfer Exception - The master’s degree requirement for lower division courses may be waived by the College President in subject areas in which individuals have demonstrated their competencies and served in professional fields. If this approval is requested, the individual’s proficiency and high level of competency must be documented by attaching:

Professional work experience history and relationship to classroom assignment AND Signatures of agreement by Dean/Director/Department Chair and indication of support by program faculty

 

Type 3

Provisional Approval - Individual is deficient in coursework needed for standard approval and is making progress toward meeting the requirement as indicated below:

Type 4

Career & Technical (CTE)

Professional Technical Approval - Individual meets either requirement for approval:
An appropriate degree & Type 4 years of successful work experience in an occupational area OR
Seven years of successful experience in an occupational area

 

Type 5

Non-Credit Community Education Approval
Demonstrated knowledge of subject matter, which may be documented through related work experience, certification, and/or course work.

 

Type 6

Occupational Supplementary Approval - Individual meets either requirement for approval:

An appropriate degree & 4 years of successful work experience in an occupational area OR Seven years of successful experience in an occupational area

 

Type 7

Post-Secondary Remedial and Adult Basic Skills
Subject matter competence may be used as a standard for approval as documented by:

  1. Certification
  2. Degree
  3. Experience
