LBCC hires Sheldon Flom, CPA, as Vice-President of Finance and Operations

Sheldon FlomAfter a nationwide search, Linn-Benton Community College has hired Sheldon Flom, CPA, as its new vice president of Finance and Operations. He takes over for Dave Henderson, who retired in December. Flom will begin his duties February 10th.

"He brings an ideal blend of experience as a business manager, commitment to higher education, and passion for student success to the table. His solid mix of expertise and character will continue LBCC's long track record of excellent financial and operational management.”

Flom has close to 25 years of financial leadership experience, including more than a decade of serving in chief financial officer roles for higher education institutions. Flom is currently the vice president for finance and business at Desert Research Institute in Nevada, and previously served as vice president of administrative services for Western Wyoming Community College.

Prior to that, the certified public accountant served for eight years at Northwest College -- a community college in Wyoming from which he received his first college degree -- in several financial leadership roles. He has also served in the Controller/CFO position for Alaska Personnel in Ketchikan.

"LB is mission-driven and that mission is all about students and success -- I pursued this opportunity because I really like that," said Flom. "I truly believe that everyone has a role in helping students succeed."

In addition to his associate of arts degree from Northwest College, Flom holds a master's degree in business administration from the University of Wyoming, as well as bachelor degrees in accounting and business. He completed the National Association of College and University Business Officer program in 2017.

"My wife Holly and I are looking forward to returning to coastal country and rehydrating after being in the desert for so long," said Flom. "We are looking forward to having new adventures and making new friends in Albany."
