College Level Exam Program (CLEP)

College Board CLEP fee will increase to $89 beginning July 1 2019.

The College Level Examination Program is the most widely accepted credit-by-examination program in the country. Linn-Benton Community College is an open testing site for anyone wishing to take the CLEP exams.

Although LBCC offers all 33 CLEP exams, Admissions and Registration does not accept all CLEP exams for credit at LBCC.  For a list of accepted tests see the table below. 

Each college and university has their own policies for accepting CLEP credit. You should check with the college or university you will be attending to see what CLEP exams they will accept.

How do I sign up to take a CLEP exam?

Step 1:  Register and pay for CLEP exams at:

Step 2:  Print your "Registration Ticket"

Step 3:  Schedule your test appointment with Student Assessment ((541) 917-4781).                                

On the day of testing:

Pay the LBCC Administration fee ($25) in the Business Office located in Calapooia Center Room 130.  *Saturday Testing:  If you are testing on Saturday, The Business Office is closed and you must pay the test fee in advance.  You can call them at 541-917-4312 and pay by debit or credit card.

Check in for testing in Red Cedar Hall Room 111.

What to bring with you on the day of testing:

  • CLEP Registration ticket
  • Receipt for $25 LBCC Administration fee
  • One piece of current Government issued photo ID with test takers full name in English language characters with a signature.  Acceptable forms:  Current passport, valid driver's license, DMV ID, Military ID, tribal ID

 CLEP Exams Accepted by Linn-Benton Community College

To receive credit at LBCC, you must obtain a minimum score of 50. Your official CLEP scores must be sent directly to LBCC. Credits received from taking the CLEP exams will be posted to your LBCC transcript as advanced standing credit.

Note: College Composition Modular w/ optional essay requires an essay topic to be ordered from CLEP Services and the essay to be scored by faculty (allow extra time). To receive credit for College Composition Modular w/ essay you must score a 50 or better on the computerized portion of the exam and score a combined 5/5, 5/6, or 6/6 on the essay portion of the exam.
