Empower Program

Let the Empower program help you gain the skills to be successful at LBCC and beyond! 

Build confidence, find your strengths, realize your potential, develop a support network and become empowered to continue your journey towards lifelong success in your academic, professional and personal development.

Empower Course Descriptions:

 

HD 140 Career Exploration (3 credits)

In this class students have the opportunity to examine their personal interests, skills, and values as they relate to career choices. Using interactive techniques such as journaling, small group work, on-line assessments, and guest speakers, students will be able to narrow down an occupation, find a program of study that matches, and prepare for success in a career.

HD 120 Destination Graduation (1 credit)

A first term experience course that helps adult learners transition into going back to school. It also allows them to develop their ability to use tools, information, and resources to be successful at LBCC. Topics include goalsetting, identifying personality traits and strengths, growth mindset, motivation, building confidence, time and stress management, placement test practice developing a support network and overall wellness.

Computer Basics (non-credit)

A first course in computers designed to provide students with hands-on experience of the personal computer and its uses in society.  Students will learn basic vocabulary and terminology, the internet and Google Applications (Gmail and Google Docs).  Application programs from the Microsoft Office Suite will be taught including Word, Excel and PowerPoint.  Students will also learn how to use Linn-Benton Community College (LBCC) applications such as Moodle and Web Runner.
