eLearning includes all forms of electronically supported learning and teaching and provides faculty the flexibility of delivering some, or all coursework to students via the Internet.
Linn-Benton Community College offers a variety of eLearning options giving students the opportunity to attend classes beyond the traditional on-campus experience. Your eLearning options include:
Classes where activities are completed strictly online. Most online classes are offered within the college's Learning Management System (LMS). The LMS that Linn-Benton Community College uses is Moodle. Just like in a face-to-face class, each instructor controls the course content, schedule and requirements.
It is important to login on the first day of term and access each class to familiarize yourself with the course layout, content, and requirements.
Because there is no set meeting time, students are expected to put in both "in-class" time and "homework time" within their own schedules weekly.
These classes combine traditional face-to-face classroom time with online instruction. On-campus instruction time is reduced anywhere from 20 to 80 percent, and the remainder of the instruction is completed online. Since not all of the instruction is done at a set meeting time, students are expected to put in both the rest of the "in-class" time and "homework time" within their own schedules weekly.
These classes are what most people think of when attending college. The class is assigned a set meeting time and room location on the main campus or at a satellite campus. Many instructors are recognizing the benefits of supplementing their class resources by adding course resources in a Moodle course shell. Having course materials available for anywhere access and up-to-date grades for students allows more freedom of information and reduced costs.
LBCC has in place effective procedures which ensure that the student who registers for a eLearning course or program is the same student who participates in, and completes the course or program and receives the academic credit. Each student that registers for a class at LBCC is given an LBCC ID and an initial password. This account grants the student access to LBCC's Learning Management System (Moodle), as well as a suite of Google Apps for Education tools. The account creation is automatic, and these processes are designed to protect student privacy.
See the Schedule of Classes.
Register for course(s) the same way you register for a regular LBCC course.
