Presidential Search

The search is underway for Linn-Benton Community College's next president.


President Greg Hamann announced his intention to retire from LBCC on June 30, 2020. A nationwide search will be conducted to find LBCC's next great leader, with a goal of having a new president start on July 1, 2020.

Check here regularly for updates on the search process and opportunities for you to provide feedback on what the Board of Education and search committee should look for in the college’s new president.

  • How to Apply

    The Board has selected the Association of Community College Trustees (ACCT) to assist us with the presidential search process. ACCT’s assistance will include providing support recruiting highly competitive candidates, working with the Search Committee, and supporting the Board of Education. ACCT has conducted over 500 community college searches and brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to our process. ACCT’s mission is to strengthen community college governance through education, advocacy at local, state, and national levels, and exemplary search services. J. David Armstrong will serve as our ACCT Search Consultant and Julie Golder, J.D., Vice President of Search Services for ACCT, will provide general oversight for the search.

  • Timeline

    The timeline and process for LBCC’s presidential search is as follows:

    November 13, 2019:
    Open Community Forums. The entire community is invited and
    encouraged to participate in a wide-ranging discussion about the qualities, characteristics and qualifications we are seeking in our next president.

    Main Campus - Albany, 9:30am - 10:30am in the Fireside Room (CC-211)

    Heathcare Occupations Center - Lebanon, 12:00pm - 1:00pm, in Room 150

    Benton Center - Corvallis, 4:00pm - 5:00pm, in Room 204

    If you are unable to attend one of the community forums, you are invited to take the survey to provide your feedback.  Online Survey (Survey closed on November 12, 2019)

     

    November 14, 2019
    Presidential Search Committee will hold it's first meeting to discuss "best practices" for inclusive hiring and to develop the presidential profile for the Board of Education's review and approval.  

     

    November 15, 2019
    Special Board of Education meeting (8:30am) to review and approve the presidential profile draft from the Presidential Search Committee.

    Following Board approval of the Presidential Profile, the profile will be posted to the LBCC Presidential Search website and nationwide advertising for the position will commence.  


    January 5, 2020
    Target Date for Receipt of Applications. Position open until filled.


    January, 2020
    Presidential Search Committee members review applications and select confidential semifinalists.


    February 4-5, 2020
    Target dates for Presidential Search Committee to meet for confidential interview of semifinalists. Finalists selected and recommended to the Board of Education.


    Week of February 17, 2020
    Target dates for Finalists to visit LBCC for tours, participate in public forums, meet with Direct Reports, etc. Finalists will interview with the full Board of Education.


    Public Forum options and dates to be announced in January, 2020.


    July 1, 2020
    Approximate start date for next President of Linn-Benton Community College.
