Going into Business Seminars
In this FREE seminar, you will get basic information needed to begin planning your successful business. Rules, regulations, financing, customers, markets and feasibility, and more will all be discussed.

  • October 15 - Corvallis

    Advisor Anne Whittington has started and operated several businesses, including a custom home construction business, a farm stay, and an Internet marketing service. 

    Meets from 11:30 a.m. - 1 p.m. at the Corvallis Foundry.

  • October 22 - Albany

    Advisor Melinda Short has been successfully self-employed for 30 years in general contracting, pre-hung door manufacturing, rentals, and real estate. 

    Meets from 1-3 p.m. at the Albany Area Chamber of Commerce.

  • October 29 - Sweet Home

    Advisor George Medellin has helped various non-profit organizations with creating systems, recruiting, training, and marketing events.  He created and operated his own business for 12 years.

    Meets from 5:30-7:30 at the Sweet Home Chamber of Commerce.

  • November 5 - Lebanon

    Advisor Marlene Peterson successfully owned, and operated, Campagna Foods, a specialty foods manufacturing business, for over 20 years.

Foundations of Business Success
Led by Stephen Fuller, a successful entrepreneur in the Corvallis area who is also a business adviser. Over 9 casual Tuesday evening sessions and one orientation, participants will learn how to create and assess a plan for a new business. The series features professional speakers covering branding and web pages, social media/digital marketing strategies, financial management, pricing, cash flow, sales, legal topics, insurance, market research and more. This is the perfect course for the entrepreneur who owns a new business (aged zero to 4 years, approximately) looking to find every competitive advantage. One-on-one advising is included.

Seven Action Steps to Grow Your Business
This course gives you a 360-degree view on your business.  This will help you make sure that you don't leave anything out when deciding on what to focus on next.  The Screening covers four areas of business: business concept, organization, operations, and customer relations.  You will leave this course with clear ACTION STEPS to take for your business.

Social Media Marketing
This hands-on social media course will teach you the basic tools of social media marketing and then build on that foundation to explore why and when it should be used. Learn how to engage with potential clients and retain them. Build relationships and create conversations with stakeholders.

This workshop envisions helping you set up a roadmap leading to your small business aspirations.  You will learn what factors should those over the age of 50 consider when starting a business.

Guided Tour of QuickBooks
This course is for those who have no previous experience using a computer-based accounting system. In a computer lab, you will learn to open the Quickbooks application and to maneuver throughout its various functions.

QuickBooks Payroll
This course is designed to provide you with basic skills for using QuickBooks Enhanced Payroll. You will be introduced to payroll preferences set up, employee set up, payroll processing, liability payments, and more. Previous exposure to computer-based accounting system is highly recommended.

QuickBooks 1
This course is designed to provide you with the scope of capabilities available in QuickBooks. You will be introduced to basic functions including chart of accounts, bank reconciliations, financial management glossary, customizing and using reports, and more. Previous exposure to computer-based accounting is recommended.

Meets Tuesdays, for five weeks, starting on October 22, 6-8 p.m., Albany campus

Registration:  $219. 

QuickBooks 2 
This course provides you with advanced skills using QuickBooks. You will be introduced to month-end and year-end closing processes, locating and fixing errors, comparing how QuickBooks Desktop and QuickBooks Online function, and more. Pre-qualification includes taking QuickBooks 1 and at least one year of computer-based accounting experience.

Meets Tuesdays, for five weeks, starting on October 22, 3-5 pm, Albany campus
