Help fund your college education

The LBCC Foundation Scholarships are separate from financial aid. For students who do not qualify for state or federal financial aid, they are a great option to help fund your education. Although some scholarships require that you file a FAFSA, they are not dependent upon whether or not you qualify for state or federal aid.

Many types of scholarships cover a range of costs like tuition, fees, books and even living expenses. And donors who support Roadrunners know the needs of a community college student - most scholarships are not merit-based. Instead, they are based on financial need, with a goal of helping students overcome financial barriers so they can focus on their education.

Who is eligible?

LBCC Scholarships are available only to current and admitted, credit-seeking LB students.

How often are scholarships available?

There are two scholarship cycles offered each year. We encourage all students to apply during each cycle. We frequently reallocate funds to students and when that happens, only students in the scholarship system are eligible for reallocated funds.

How does it work?

All LBCC Foundation scholarships are submitted through our online system. Paper applications will not be accepted or considered.

Our scholarship system will require you complete just one general application. Once you submit the application, it will automatically match you with all opportunities for which you qualify. For the auto-match opportunities, there is nothing else you need to do to be considered and the system will mark “None” next to these opportunities.

For scholarships which require additional information or an essay, those opportunities will appear as “Apply To”. For those scholarships, you will be required to click on the Apply To tab and answer the additional questions.

For practical tips on completing your application go to Tips and Advice for Scholarship Applications.

When will I know if I was awarded a scholarship?

Once scholarships close (the deadline) it takes us about 6-8 weeks for us to process applications.

In June, students will be notified via e-mail of awards for the 2020-21 school years. Scholarship funds are placed on student accounts the second week of each term. Any refunds are paid to students within 5-7 business days from when the funds were placed on the account.

Thanking donors

It is very important to acknowledge and thank the donors who make these scholarships possible. They are committed to our community and to LBCC's mission, and they are interested in learning how their money has helped someone reach their educational goals.

If that someone is you, we require that you write a thank you letter addressed to the scholarship donor (see the name of the scholarship). Do this no later than 3 weeks into the term upon you have received your award.

Submit your thank you letter to:

CC-107, 6500 Pacific Blvd SW.
Albany, OR 97321

You can also bring your letter to the Institutional Advancement/Foundation office located in the Calapooia Center building on the Albany campus in room CC-107 during regular business hours.
