Tailored Training

Defined as training that community college(s) "universally" offer businesses and workers, but is tailored or customized to the specific needs of individual or groups of secondary wood products businesses. Tailored training is generally targeted at a company's current workers who are not eligible for other sources of State support.

Courses can be developed for a consortium of businesses who cannot afford a course for their own business. A consortium can make training feasible for small businesses.

The grant has created a fund that companies may access to invest in training their current workforce. The Board approves funding for projects submitted by the Community college(s) and the businesses. The application process is simple and swift so that businesses are served in their timeframe. Courses that have been developed will be available for statewide dissemination, if appropriate.
