Specialized Training

 

 

 

Defined as very specific and/or unique training to the secondary wood products industry. Content areas are determined by needs assessment.

a.) Non-Equipment Training: Specialized training that does not require learning on secondary wood products machines or equipment.

Examples:

 

   Product standards

   OSHA required training

   Internal/external glue systems

   Dry kiln theory

   CNC programming

   Grading

b.) Equipment Training: Specialized training that does require learning on Secondary Wood Products machines or equipment.

Examples:

 

 

   Moulders

   Chopsaws

   Ripsaws

   Sanders

   Planing

   Fingerjointer

   Optimizer saw

   CNC router

   RF glue press

   Finishing system

   Cabinet installation

Design considerations: The subject matter experts from industry, along with an instructional designer from the community college(s), will develop courses to meet the standards and competencies required by business and industry.

Courses developed in this section will be financed in the future by revenues from manufacturers.

 

Advanced Training

Defined as cutting edge / state-of-the-art training, often in techniques and/or advanced technology applications to secondary wood products manufacturing.

Examples:

   Composite materials

   Overwrap technology

   Bladder press

Design consideration: The local community college(s) will work directly with businesses recognizing the proprietary nature of the training which will impact method of delivery.
