Entry Level Training (ELT)

 

 

 

ELT is defined as industry-specific training new workers need to have in order to successfully begin employment in the Secondary Wood Products Industry.

Examples:

 

  • Product Trends
  • Plant equipment overview
  • Basic machine defects
  • Work as a Team
  • Plant safety and protective equipment
  • Natural wood defects
  • Communication skills
  • Work expectations
    (attendance, quality workmanship)

Design considerations: These programs may be offered in the six regions of the state based on interest: Central Oregon, Central Valley, Portland-Metro, Southern Oregon, Eastern Oregon, and Coastal Region.

Flexibility / Enhancements: Local teams of industry representatives, local community college(s), and WPCC will add to the course components specific to the entry level skill core of Secondary Wood Products in each geographic area.

Enhanced Entry Level Training (EELT)

The Oregon SWPTS will test pilot an enhanced orientation / training program to prepare workers for entry-level positions in secondary Wood Products.

The program will feature:

 

  • basic math
  • computer skills
  • basic reading
  • workplace readiness component

These elements are to complement the general Entry Level Training curriculum.
