Women’s Basketball

Front Row: Ball Boy Jamison Guerra, Sam Sanders, Carrie Garrison, Triana Crane, Jamie Wilson, Katy Bartholomew,
Alicia Love Back Row: Assistant Coach Lacey Ocupe, Kalah Heacock, Sarah McNeilly, Jamie Mayhew, McKenzie Smith, Kiana Saluni, Head Coach Teresa Guerra

The Lady Roadrunners will return two players off of last season's roster.  Leading scorer Kalah Heacock and Jamie Wilson will be the team leaders next year for the young team.  This will be a rebuilding year for Coach Guerra as she tries to recruit top student-athletes to compete in one of the toughest leagues in the NWAACC Conference.  The Lady Roadrunners will lack experience but on the positive side Coach Guerra has recruited a talented bunch of girls who are focused and training hard this off season to improve their game thru weight-lifting, conditioning and basketball skill work-outs.

During Coach Guerra's first season as Linn-Benton's Head Women's Basketball Coach she had a total of 9 wins and a 5th place finish in league.  She has been very busy in the off-season with the task of reloading a roster with a talented group of individuals who will work hard and play smart.  This upcoming 2009-2010 preseason will be challenging, travelling to Walla Walla CC, Columbia Basin CC and Yakima CC which will hopefully get the team prepared for league play.

Meet The Recruits

Point Guard Sam Sanders- Myrtle Point High School
"Sam is a true point guard and will be a great addition to our team.  Her up-tempo style of play and her take charge on the court demeanor will fit in nicely with the style of play we are incorporating.  She possesses all the qualities we look for in a point guard.  Sam's hard work ethic also carries over in the classroom and we are looking forward to future academic success as well as on the court success."

Post Sarah McNeilly- Transfer from Grand Canyon University
"I am very excited that Sarah has decided to transfer and continue her education and basketball career here at LBCC.  Her physical strength and shooting ability from the perimeter will be key for us.  As a post player she is very mobile and runs the floor well.  She has a great attitude and love for the game.  I am excited to see her compete this up coming season."
                                                                                                               -Coach Guerra

Guard Carrie Garrison- Stayton High School
"We are excited that Carrie will be joining our program.  She is a great defender and her quickness will benefit our team on the defensive end.  Carrie brings added depth to our perimeter game and is a strong finisher on the offensive side.  She is tough, team-oriented and plays with a tremendous amount of energy.  She is coming from a strong High School program and I look forward to watching her grow as a player."
                                                                                                               -Coach Guerra

Guard/Post Jamie Mahew- Bend High School
"Jamie will be a tremendous help for the Lady Roadrunners.  With her size and ability to score in the post and on the perimeter she will be tough to guard giving problems to our opponents.  Jamie will be someone who contributes right away and will make a positive impact for our team.  I am impressed with her ability to understand the game and she will fit right in with our system."
                                                                                                                -Coach Guerra

Guard McKenzie Smith- North Medford High School
"McKenzie will be an excellent addition to our team.  I am excited to see her develop over the next two years.  She has a great shooting touch and can knock down the open jumper.  She can also attack the basket aggressively which will fit right in with our style of play.  McKenzie is a solid student-athlete and I am impressed with her work ethic on the court as well as in the classroom.  She has a nice feel for the game and I look forward to watching her compete this season."
                                                                                                                 -Coach Guerra

Post Kiana Saluni- St.Helen's High School
"Kiana is a happy addition to the Lady Roadrunner roster.  She will bring good size to our team on both ends of the court.  Kiana has a nice shooting touch from the perimeter.  We look for her to be a huge force in the center for us and contribute right away."
                                                                                                                 -Coach Guerra

The Lady Roadrunners compiled a 9-16 record during the 2008-2009 season.  Coach Guerra has added a strong class of recruits to her depleted roster and she looks forward to coaching a talented group of athletes.  To prepare for the upcoming 2009-2010 season Coach Guerra will take the team through a series of team building activities in September.  The focus will be "building team chemistry" according to Guerra.
