Tuition and Fees

The amount of tuition you pay is determined by your residency and by the number of credit hours you are taking, as well as other factors. Some classes charge a fee in addition to tuition.

As of Summer Term 2011, tuition and fees are as follows:

Credit Tuition Student Activity Fee Transportation and Safety Fee Technology Fee Total Tuition and Fees
In-state (OR, CA, ID, WA, NV) per credit $85.80 $2.20 $1.00 $2.00 $91.00
Out-of-state (except OR, CA, ID, WA, NV) per credit $179.80 $2.20 $1.00 $2.00 $185.00
Foreign/International per credit $231.80 $2.20 $1.00 $2.00 $237.00

Note: A fee of $5.00 per credit is charged for Internet and Hybrid courses.
Tuition and fees are subject to change by the LBCC Board of Education.

LBCC Residency Requirements:

Tuition rates and fee schedules are different for students who live in Oregon, students who do not live within Oregon or bordering states, and for international students.

In-state Tuition – You pay resident tuition if:

  1. you have lived in Oregon for at least 90 continuous days immediately preceding the term and can demonstrate your intent to become a permanent resident  (for the complete residency policy click http://po.linnbenton.edu/BPsandARs/AR 7075-05 Classification Of Residency.pdf),
  2. you are an immigrant, or
  3. you are a permanent resident of California, Idaho, Washington or Nevada.

For detailed information and a list of documents that will be accepted as proof of residency, contact the Director of Enrollment Management in Takena Hall, 541-917-4811.

Out-of-state Tuition - If your permanent residence is outside the states of Oregon, California, Idaho, Nevada or Washington, you must pay the out-of-state tuition rate.

Foreign/International Tuition - You must pay international tuition rates if you are a citizen of another country and require an I-20 to attend college. International students do not become residents, regardless of how long they live within the state.

Other Factors that Affect Tuition:

Regional Programs - The LBCC Board of Education has designated some programs as Regional Programs, allowing out-of-state students to pay in-state tuition the first term of their enrollment. For subsequent terms, these students must establish and meet LBCC's residency requirements to qualify for in-state tuition.

Non-Credit Classes - The tuition for non-credit classes is based on the number of hours an instructor is provided. The tuition is listed with each class in the printed Schedule of Classes.

Student Activity and Program Fee - Each student is assessed $2.20 per credit as a student activity and program fee. This fee, which cannot exceed $27, is included in the chart at the top of the page. Income derived from the fee supports extracurricular activities and programs, including athletics, artist and lecturer guest appearances, clubs and organizations, and a variety of recreational and social activities. More information is available at the Student Life and Leadership Office in the Student Union. Note: These fees are subject to change.

Tuition Refunds:

To receive a tuition refund, you must either drop a full-term course using WebRunner or submit a Schedule Change form at the Registration Office in Takena Hall or at one of the LBCC centers by the drop deadlines listed below. When using WebRunner, be sure to SUBMIT your changes.Tuition refunds are based on the table below and are calculated by computer. If you are entitled to a refund, it will be processed automatically and mailed to you or credited to your account according to timelines established by the Business Office. In the table below, class length is based on the number of term weeks the class is scheduled to meet (a week is 12:01 a.m. Monday to 11:59 p.m. Sunday). No refunds will be granted after the drop deadlines listed below. To drop on Saturday or Sunday, you must use WebRunner.

You can petition for a refund after the deadline if serious and compelling circumstances beyond your control were significant enough to prevent you from dropping within the refund period or occurred after the refund period. All petitions for a late refund must outline, and support with documentation, the "serious and compelling" need for a late refund. Petition forms are available at registration counters. Refund deadlines for shorter classes are as follows:

Tuition Refund Deadlines:
One-day class: Day prior to class
One-week class:*  Day prior to 2nd class meeting
Two-week class:*  Day prior to the 1st class of the 2nd week
Three weeks or longer:  End of 2nd week of class

*A one-week class meets more than one day the same week (Monday through Sunday)

*A two-week class meets at least once during two different term weeks. A term week is Monday through Sunday. (Classes lasting three weeks or longer meet at least once during each term week of the class.)

Courses dropped during the refund period will not be included on your academic record (see Withdraw Deadlines).

Refunds are mailed after the second week of classes. If a class is canceled by the college, you will receive a full refund or, if you prefer, you can enroll in another class. If you choose to take another class, you may enroll using WebRunner or you can submit a Schedule Change form to the Registration Office.
