Tech Communications

Majors and Programs | Instructors

The Associate of Science degree program in Technical Communications at LBCC prepares students to enter the workforce or transfer to a four-year college or university. The Technical Communications program addresses business and industry requirements by providing specialized classes in technical writing, graphic design for publication, and the choice of a broad variety of business and speech classes.

Students will develop a solid foundation in grammar, style, and in using particular forms of technical communication, including reports, proposals, and manuals, as well as the publishing and presentation of their projects using the most current methods, media (including graphic design skills) and technology. An internship in the community is built into the program. Throughout the program students will work on creating a professional portfolio for future employment.

This two-year technical writing major can be combined successfully with a scientific or technical field and serves as either a stand-alone degree or as a transfer program for students to continue their education at the university level.
