Tell Your Own Story
"Tell Your Own Story" is an oral history project at Linn-Benton Community College designed to give our students an opportunity to share their personal stories regarding the impact LBCC has had on their lives.
LBCC students from diverse backgrounds share their personal stories from learning leadership and working in the community to overcoming barriers, conquering their fears, and succeeding in college.
Click on each student's photo or link to listen to their story. You will need software that will play ".mp3" file formats.
Charling Hambley "Making the connection, knowing people, really makes you learn more than just going to class. It takes you places that you probably wouldn't think of. It makes you feel like you belong someplace." Click here to listen to Charling's story.
Rocky Gavin "I've grown in confidence and leadership. I'm now stepping forward in life, instead of stepping back." Click here to listen to Rocky's story.

Petr Horak "I think that no matter where you come from and what your beliefs are, if you are open-minded and want to learn, you are going to learn and change...you can make a difference." Click here to listen to Petr's story.
Verna Boothe "When I first moved here, not knowing anyone except for my children, I was like okay, I'll go to college and meet a lot of people and have lots of friends. Well it's not like that unless you get involved in something." Click here to listen to Verna's story.
Mark Lehnert "I've learned [at LBCC] acceptance of different people- because we have a huge variety of people here." Click here to listen to Mark's story.
