How to Get Started

Linn-Benton Community College
Clubs & Organizations

Student Clubs and Organizations:

A student organization is a group of people who are enrolled at LBCC, and who come together for a common purpose.  As a major source of life on campus, clubs provide opportunities for a social interaction unparalleled in the classroom or other extra curricular programs.  They usually have a curricular or special interest focus.  LBCC has various organizations that enhance the recreational, educational, and social life of all who participate in their activities.

How to Get Started:

Becoming an officially recognized club at Linn-Benton Community College is fairly easy...

•Complete a Club Petition for Charter form

•Designate an advisor who is a contracted LBCC staff member

•Provide name/address/phone number for at least eight registered LBCC students who are
interested in active membership in the club

•Submit the above information to the Student Life & Leadership Club Coordinator where it will
be reviewed and then submitted to the Associated Student Government for official recognition.

Following recognition, an account will be established and your club will be provided with $100 to help cover some of your start up costs.  Your advisor will be notified when recognition is official, and when the account is ready for use.

Helpful Considerations during the Charter Process:

•What is the club’s purpose?

•How do you define your organization?

•What are your proposed goals?

•What do you hope to accomplish?

•What students do you hope to attract to your organization?

•How is the club going to be structured?

•What offices will you have? (President, V.P., Treasurer, Secretary, Chairperson, etc…)

•How will the officers be selected and for how long?

•How often will you meet?

•Will members be required to pay dues?
