Don't Be A Victim

LBCC Public Safety Department strives to provide a safe and secure college environment.

 

LBCC Public Safety provides:

  • 24-hour patrol and protection services
  • Personal safety escort services
  • Victimization avoidance information
  • First aid station
  • Jump start battery pack for your use (free of charge)
  • Lost and found property returns

Please remember to:

  • Lock vehicle and keep all valuables out of sight
  • Walk in groups when possible
  • Walk in well-lighted areas
  • Have keys ready before you arrive at your vehicle
  • Don’t look like a victim - walk briskly and with confidence
  • Always be aware of your surroundings
  • Report all suspicious activity to the Public Safety Office at x4440
  • Register your vehicle with the Public Safety Office (free of charge)

Stalking and Dating Violence on College Campuses:

  • Nationally, 1 in 8 college women report being stalked in the last 6-9 months. Stalking may include but is not limited to unwanted phones calls, emails, letters, or visits; being watched from afar; having someone waiting for you outside a building or room; being followed; and/or other similar behaviors.
  • Nationally, 32% of students report dating violence by a previous partner and 21% by a current partner

 

Rowan University and Security on Campus, Inc. have provided a video on stalking awareness. LBCC staff and students can access the video at http://elearning.linnbenton.edu/course/view.php?id=1169 using Moodle.
