Tutoring - Step 1
Know how to use the appointment system.
- Schedule tutoring appointments at least 24 hours in advance. Limit appointments to 3 per week (see **below for summer term.) To serve more students, appointments may be limited to TWO per week during periods of heavy demand or with certain tutors. Tutor sessions are 50 minutes long.
- Keep track of your appointments with the reminder cards provided. No one will call to remind you. You are responsible for keeping the appointments you make.
- If you must cancel an appointment, do so at least 2 hours before, preferably 24 hours ahead. Call 917-4697. You may also cancel in person in the Learning Center. Please make every effort to limit your cancellations. Your tutor has made a commitment to be there for you, and the cancellation may not occur in time to be filled by another student who needs help.
- If you cancel an appointment less than 2 hours ahead , or fail to show up, you will be placed on the NO-SHOW list. If you acquire TWO NO-SHOWS , you will lose your eligibility for tutoring for THREE WEEKS , after which you may again have a tutoring appointment. Ask the Tutor Coordinator for the date your eligibility will be restored.

A Word About Group Tutoring
During periods of heavy demand for tutoring, group tutoring sessions may be offered as an additional form of tutoring support. If you are interested in participating in a group tutoring session, please indicate that on your Tutoring Registration form. Group sessions will be announced, and appointments will NOT be necessary to attend. (Sorry, not available during summer term.)
**Summer Term (free!) tutoring will be limited to math. Students may have up to TWO appointments per week, based on tutor availability. Ask about hiring a private tutor at the Learning Center Information counter.
