Individual Tutoring

Individual tutoring provides tutoring by appointment for a variety of course materials, in contrast with TASS (Tutor-Assisted Study Support) which concerns support for study groups at fixed times.

You may find that working with a tutor - someone who has had the same course you are taking and has done well - is just what you need to help you succeed in your courses. If you are enrolled in a LBCC course for credit, you are eligible to use the Learning Center (free!) tutoring service. You can receive tutoring in the Learning Center, the Learning and Career Center at the Benton Center in Corvallis or the Lebanon Center. Our objectives for tutoring services are:

  • To provide academic assistance which maximizes your learning potential, academic performance, and adjustment to college;
  • To encourage you to develop a positive attitude and confidence in your ability to learn;
  • To help you become an independent learner;
  • To provide support to help you maintain high academic performance, and
  • To provide instructional experience for tutors interested in pursuing teaching professions.
