Student Satisfaction & Campus Climate

Background

Every few years, in collaboration with 60+ faculty, LBCC conducts a survey of credit students to learn how they experience our academic and campus environment. Questions focus on the following core service areas: registration and enrollment; business services; student support; campus climate; publications and communications; and overall impressions of LBCC.

A brief statement of overall findings is presented below followed by links to more detailed results that may be of interest to some. For historical results, contact the Office of Institutional Research.

Overall Findings

Overall, the findings from this survey of credit students are positive. There are no significant differences by gender, age, or race, with the exception of some differences by race on the diversity questions. Survey findings point to three main areas where more attention could be directed: (1) communication tied to knowing what is happening on campus, student fees, expressing concerns or grievances, and knowing who to contact on campus if help with substance abuse is needed; (2) classes scheduled at times convenient for students and offered in a way they can be taken in recommended sequence and still complete degree in timely manner; and, (3) encouragement of non-developmental and developmental students to seek help with their coursework when needed, including offering "how to" guidance.

For a high level view, the majority of students indicate they are more than "somewhat" in agreement (4 or 5 on a five point scale) with the following statements.

• Overall, I am satisfied with the campus environment at LBCC. - 82%
• I think LBCC has a good reputation in the community. - 81%
• I would recommend this college to friends and relatives. - 81%
• I am likely to continue here until I reach my educational goals. - 81%
• My experience of LBCC so far has met my expectations. - 79%
• I am satisfied the training and education I am receiving while attending LBCC will prepare me to compete with others in my field. - 78%
• The cost of attending LBCC is worth it for the education and support I received. - 76%
• Faculty are interested in my academic problems and success. - 72%
• LBCC shows a commitment to academic excellence. - 72%
• Overall, I am satisfied with the support services that are available to help me meet my educational goals at LBCC. - 71%
