Does My Computer have a Virus?

To find out, first make sure your computer has the most current Virus Definition File available (see link to the left), then use your Symantec AntiVirus software to scan your computer's C:\ drive for infected files (see link to the left).

Just because a virus was passed to your computer, it doesn't mean the virus has successfully infected it. LBCC's antivirus software is very good at detecting viruses and rendering them harmless before they are able to infect your files.

Here are two ways to check if a virus has been passed to your computer:

Open Symantec AntiVirus...

1) Check your Quarantine area (see below) for any recently quarantined files
(note several unsuccessful attempts by the notorious Netsky virus below)

2) Look at your computer's Threat History to discover recent virus protection activity on your computer.

It is perfectly okay to delete quarantined files. It is also okay to delete your Threat History, (as the user above has).
