Family Resources and Education Division
The Family Resources and Education Division is making a difference to children and families in Linn and Benton Counties. We are committed to high quality services, creative solutions to problems and to creating caring communities with local partners. There are 3 main departments within the Division. They are:
The Education/Child & Family Studies Department offers a variety of classes for aspiring teachers of grades K through 12, as well as degrees in Child & Family Studies and Instructional Assisting. - The Early Education Partnership (EEP) at LBCC is a federally funded grant project which focuses on effective teaching strategies, curriculum, assessment, and early literacy. Contact Sue Doescher at 541.917.4915 for more information about how to become eligible for this project.
- In addition, the Ed/C&FS Department maintains our on-campus lab school, located in the Periwinkle Child Development Center. For more information on the lab school and/or on-campus child care, please call 541.917.4898.
The Family Connections Department offers comprehensive information and education on child care, respite care, parent education, family activities and support groups in Linn and Benton counties. Experienced, friendly staff can provide referrals to child care, parenting advice, written material, and more. Family Connections also offers a variety of classes and short-term trainings for child care providers. The Parenting Education Department offers classes and workshops for parents interested in learning to help their children grow and develop, and for parent educators. This department includes the "Living & Learning" series of parent/child classes, community parenting classes, specialized classes, and the Albany Family Literacy Program. Division office hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday. The Division office is open throughout the year, with closures on holidays, college-wide in-service days, and over Christmas week. The office is located in the Luckiamute Center, room LM-101, in the far northwest corner of campus (go here for a map of campus). The Division office can be reached by calling 541.917.4897.
