The LBCC Office of Disability Services and YOU!
The Office of Disability Services (ODS) at Linn-Benton Community College plans accommodations for LBCC classes, activities, and events for students and college guests. ODS staff members offer information, planning and success coaching. A variety of services are customized, based on disability documentation provided by the student. LBCC does not test or diagnose disabilities.
The ODS provides assistance to students who have documented disabilities by:
- Reviewing documentation to confirm eligibility
- Identifying appropriate accommodations
- Coordinating services in the classroom
- Providing support i.e. assistive technology, testing accommodations, and others
- Success coaching and advocating

What is a Disability?
The definition of disability set forth in the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 does not distinguish between type, severity, or duration of the disability.
It states: "The term 'disability' means, with respect to an individual, a physical or mental impairment that substantially limits one or more of the major life activities of such individual; a record of such impairment; or being regarded as having such an impairment."
When Can I start Working with the Office of Disability Services?
- You may document your disability to with ODS as early as one year prior to attending LBCC.
- Once ODS receives your completed Getting Started forms and documentation of disability you are ready to start utilizing services.
- Each term, you must request accommodations at least six weeks before the start of the next term.
