Summer Health Careers Academy

The Summer Academy is open to future high school freshman and sophomores of the 2009-10 school year. We accept 20 applicants on a first come first served basis. Students will be contacted at least two weeks prior to the Academy's start date to confirm their acceptance into the academy. The required $10 deposit will be returned to those students not accepted or not able to attend.
Each day we will meet at Linn-Benton Community College's (LBCC) main campus in Albany at 9 a.m. Students and their families are responsible for transportation to and from the campus each morning and afternoon. At no additional charge a light lunch will be available each day. Students are welcome to bring a snack for during breaks, if desired. Please inform us of any special dietary needs at least two weeks in advance to make the necessary arrangements.
For the off campus field trips to various health related facilities within Albany and Corvallis we will travel together as a group. In the past we have toured dentist offices, funeral homes, the Good Samaritan Regional Medical Center and Cancer Center, OSU Colleges of Pharmacy and Veterinary Medicine, and more. The schedule for this year's academy will be announced in April.
On site at LBCC students will have an opportunity to participate in hands-on activities related to rehabilitation careers, physical assessments, etc. They may also observe a Well Baby Check performed by one of our local pediatrician.
On the last day of the Academy there will be a celebration which family and friends are encouraged to attend. There will be refreshments, awards and a picture presentation of the academy's activities.
