Important Message from the Program Director
To All Prospective Students:
The Imaging profession is an exciting, ever changing, dynamic and progressive field. I personally could not imagine myself in any other career; however, as with a lot of the healthcare professions, the demand for Imaging Technologists is very cyclical. Be aware, the demand for Imaging Technologists is not as high as it has been in recent years. This is true both for the State of Oregon and the nation as a whole. There are jobs, but many students may have to relocate, get a foot in the door by working less than ideal shifts and hours, or start as a "casual" technologist with no set hours or benefits. I urge you to study the labor market in order to make an informed decision about any career path you choose.
And remember, at some point the market place will change again, just as it always does, and the job outlook will again be stronger. I just don't have that crystal ball...
My best wishes in you educational and career decisions.
