Other Funding Sources

The major sources of discretionary funding, besides the federal government, are private foundations and corporations. They differ widely in their application requirements but their procedures are usually far less demanding and rigid than the federal programs. Nevertheless, their procedures must be followed closely for you to be taken seriously.

State funding may also be a possibility in some situations, but you would probably learn of these opportunities in the course of your work.

You may find one or more of the following sites helpful in identifying an appropriate private/corporate funding source.

The Foundation Center Search by subject or geographic area for private foundations and corporate grant makers. Includes links to foundation web sites and you can access IRS form 990s which provide information on grants awarded each year.
The Foundation Center OnlineTo access the much more complete Foundation Center database requires a subscription which can be purchased for as little as $19.95 for one month.
Foundation Search OnlineIf you would like assistance searching for Foundation funding, LBCC subscribes to a powerful search tool called Foundation Search Online. Please contact the Office of Institutional Research X4214 for access and assistance.
