The Linn-Benton Fire Training Council is actively hiring Instructors specializing in Firefighting and Emergency Service classes. Our instructors are part of a pool of instructors that instruct firefighting skills in the classroom as well as on the fire drill grounds. Instructors need to be enthusiastic, professional, well prepared with experience and knowledge of the appropriate course content.

The Linn-Benton Fire Training Council is made up of representatives from fire agencies in Linn and Benton counties, working in conjunction with the Business and Employer Services at Linn-Benton Community College (LBCC). The Training Council is an active affiliate of the Oregon Fire Instructors Association. The LBFTC has played an active roll in developing new training standards such as a Rapid Intervention Team Class that this used by all fire departments in the two county area.
The objectives of the Linn-Benton Fire Training Council:
(a) To unite in a regional organization those persons engaged in, affiliated with or promoting fire service training and education.
(b) To investigate, determine, promote and enact the continued advancement of fire service training and education in Benton and Linn Counties.
(c) To encourage and support the Oregon Fire Instructors Association, the statewide organization.
(d) To advise Linn-Benton Community College of local fire service training needs and promote fire service training through the college.

Position: Fire Science Instructor
Department: Business and Employer Services
Reports to: Director, Business and Employer Services Essential Duties:
Length of
Employment: Part-time as needed.
Required
Qualifications: Must be certified by the DPSST in the course content and have NFPA Instructor 1 certification. Must have emergency response experience and knowledge of relevant course materials.
Preferred
Qualifications: Current knowledge and experience in field.
Job Summary: Instructors will be a members of a teaching pool which teaches one or more courses in NFPA Firefighter 1 & 2, NFPA Pumper Operator and/or a Hazardous Materials Awareness & Operations course using materials provided by the Fire Training Council. Additional courses may be taught as the need arises. Instructors contribute to the value of their courses by being active in the fire service.
1. Implements class lessons.
2. Monitors students for effective and safe execution of Emergency Response Service skills.
3. Ensures course content and methods are consistent with approved course outlines.
4. Creates an effective learning environment to increase student retention and student success.
5. Establishes and maintains a class roster.
