LBCC Performing Arts is delighted to again partner with AAA Travel, to bring you the following 2011/2012 season of travel films.
October 9, 2011 ~ Yellowstone Trails & Tales ~ Sandy Mortimer
“Yellowstone’s Trails and Tales” captures some of the most intimate scenes of otters - as well as the lives of coyotes, wolves, bears, moose, fox, mountain sheep and elk - all filmed in the wilds of Yellowstone National Park. Yellowstone’s otters are our guides through the seasons of the year in our first National Park. We’ll see it in the springtime, with the captivating endless play and interaction of the young, through the summer adventures, and into autumn and winter, when life grows harsh. We invite you to share the many true, and humorous, experiences in the lives of our friends, the otters, and their neighbors, during all four glorious seasons. This is the wilds of Yellowstone National Park.
January 15, 2012 ~ Southern Europe ~ Marlin Darrah
A delicious sampler package from many wonderful Central and Southern European cities, this film presents a feast of architectural and cultural highlights from Paris, Cannes, Barcelona, Granada, Seville, Dubrovnik and Istanbul. From the Seine and the art galleries of Paris, to the Moorish palaces and narrow market streets of Spain; to the greatest coastal walled city in the world, to the most fascinating and alluring city of the Eastern Mediterranean, Istanbul, this program is filled with rich cinematography and sound.
March 11, 2012 ~ Bhutan, the Cloud Kingdom ~ Tom Sterling
The last independent Himalayan Buddhist Kingdom is no bigger than New Hampshire and Vermont put together, but it has become a tourist mecca. Perched on the eastern shoulders of the world's tallest mountains, this tiny mountain kingdom is a wonder to behold. From the moment your plane touches down at the Paro Airport, you'll be charmed by a culture, landscapes, architecture and wildlife that is unique in the world.
April 15, 2012 ~ Burma and Cambodia… Lands of Conflict ~ Buddy Hatten
Burma remains one of the most mysterious, undiscovered destinations in the world; a land of breathtaking beauty and charm, offering all the traditional delights of Asia in one fascinating country. This up-to-date film explores the cry for democracy from its people who have endured 20 years of dictator/military junta suppression. The story of modern Cambodia is steeped in tragedy. Phnom Penh is its capital; it has a French look about it, with wide boulevards and avenues, colonial-era French architecture, and roundabouts; this era ended with The Killing Fields that brought four years of ethnic cleansing and doom for her people. Today, the people are rebuilding their lives.
