Ongoing Support and Training: Each year the Parenting Education Department offers training for professionals working with parents in a parent educator role. In previous years we have coordinated trainings that met the needs of several agencies and professionals, including LBL Early Intervention, Linn and Benton Co. Healthy Start, the Family Tree Relief Nursery, OSU Oregon Head Start Pre-Kindergarten, and KidCo Head Start. Recent trainings include Physical Development & Beyond: Why Young Children Need to Move; Raising Children in a Media Age; Early Emotional Development; The Secret Life of the Brain; Child Abuse Issues; Sensory Integration; and Development and Screening and Assessment. Parent Educator Listserv (PEC): Subscribers to the PEC listserv receive information on continuing education and up-to-date information on new resources, research and best practices in parenting education. Subscribers are able to promote their classes to other educators, share strategies and resources, and pose questions.
