Community Parenting Program

LBCC's Parenting Education Department is committed to community engagement and planning to achieve shared vision and goals between organizations, communities and families. Community participation and action is key to helping strengthen families.

A wide a variety of classes and workshops are offered through partnerships with schools, health departments, faith organizations, and social service agencies in Linn and Benton Counties. Rural Parenting Initiative
LBCC Parenting Education works with the Rural Parenting Initiative (RPI) to serve families in the rural communities of Benton County. Funded from multiple sources, including the Ford Family Foundation, Benton Commission on Children and Families, United Way, and the Benton County Health Department, RPI's mission is to strengthen rural families.

Strengthening Families Program: Youth 10-14 Pilot Project
In partnership with the Linn County Alcohol and Drug Treatment Program, Benton County Substance Abuse Prevention Program, and Strengthening Rural Families/Rural Parenting Initiative, LBCC has received funds to pilot the award-winning program Strengthening Families: Youth 10-14 in four locations. The seven-week program focuses on reducing family-related factors for adolescent problem behaviors, and building protective factors in young adolescent children and their parents/caregivers. SFP 10-14 is a science-based, best practices program nationally recognized by the U.S. Department of Education, the National Institute on Drug Use, and the Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention.
