The Support Lab

The Support Lab at HO-114 offers assistance, support, and a small quiet study area to all students on campus in addition to providing services for students working through the ODS.

Services include:

  • Writing/editing assistance
  • Math assistance (Math 20 through Math 95)
  • Organizational/Time Management help
  • Computers/ Large screen monitor with Zoom-Text
  • Adaptive software & Assistive Technology
  • Test accommodations

Test accommodations in the Support Lab are by appointment, made at least one week in advance.  To make an appointment and/or find out how to arrange for your accommodations, come by the Lab and talk with the friendly staff.  Information about testing in the Support Lab is provided towards the end of this page.

The Support Lab is located on the 1st floor of Health Occupation Building,
Room HO-114. 

Lab Hours:  Monday through Wednesday, 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Thursday and Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

TAKING A TEST IN THE SUPPORT LAB

_____ GO TO THE SUPPORT LAB IN HO 114

• 1 WEEK AHEAD FOR REGULAR TESTS OR QUIZZES
• 3 WEEKS AHEAD FOR FINALS
• AS SOON AS YOU KNOW FOR TESTS/QUIZZES NOT ON THE SYLLABUS
• YOU CAN SCHEDULE ALL OF YOUR TESTS FROM YOUR SYLLABUS AT THE BEGINNING OF THE TERM!.

_____ COMPLETE A BLUE TEST REQUEST FORM

• IF THIS IS AN UNTIMED TEST SUCH AS MATH...BE SURE TO GIVE YOURSELF A GENEROUS AMOUNT OF TIME

_____ ASK A STAFF PERSON TO MAKE AN APPOINTMENT

_____ TAKE A GOLD INSTRUCTOR'S TEST FORM TO YOUR INSTRUCTOR

• REMIND YOUR INSTRUCTOR YOU ARE TESTING IN THE SUPPORT LAB
• TELL THEM WHEN YOU ARE TESTING
• ASK THE INSTRUCTOR TO BRING THE TEST TO THE SUPPORT LAB
• WE CAN'T TEST WITHOUT DIRECTIONS FROM YOUR INSTRUCTOR

_____ ARRIVE ON TIME FOR THE TEST...READY TO START

• IF YOUR ARRIVE LATE, YOU MAY BE ASKED TO RESCHEDULE

 


LAB TESTING RULES

• NO ELECTRONICS IN TESTING AREA THIS INCLUDES PHONES, IPODS, OR LAP TOPS IF THEY ARE NOT PART OF YOUR ACCOMMODATIONS. YOU MAY PUT THEM IN YOUR BACKPACK OR WE CAN LOCK THEM UP
• NO PURSES OR BACKPACKS IN TESTING AREA
WE CAN LOCK UP YOUR PURSE. BACKPACKS WILL BE KEPT IN THE STAFF ONLY AREA
• IF YOU TAKE A BREAK, YOU MAY NOT TAKE ANY OF THE ABOVE WITH YOU
• MUSIC TO LISTEN TO MUST BE A PRE-RECORDED CD OR TAPE

 

TAKING BREAKS DURING TESTS

• IF YOU PLAN ON NEEDING MORE THAN A 5 MINUTE BATHROOM BREAK, let the test proctor know BEFORE YOU START THE TEST. The test will then be given to you a page at a time.

• IF YOU ARE TAKING A TEST A PAGE AT A TIME:
o You must complete a page before your break. You will not be allowed to come back to that page.
o You may not take longer than a 10 minute break outside the Lab. You may break as long as you want inside the Lab.
o You are not allowed to take any electronic items with you when breaking outside the Lab.
