Becoming a member of SKD opens up possibilities of tuition wavers for officers as well as national scholarships and publishing and presentation options for all members. Locally, our meetings are enrichment activities for those who enjoy writing and sharing creative writing, attending plays and films, discussing novels, and getting to know others who share your interests.
A BRIEF HISTORY OF ΣΚΔ
Sigma Tau Delta, the International English Honor Society for four-year colleges, founded Sigma Kappa Delta on April 21, 1996 in Chicago. SKD believes that its very purpose goes far beyond acknowledging student accomplishments and recognizing their academic achievements. Sigma Kappa Delta aims to promote student awareness and interest in literature and the arts. The organization believes that “cultivating appreciation for the fine arts is vital to preparing students for richer lives.”
The LBCC Chapter, Phi Gamma, was founded on November 29, 2006 as the first Sigma Kappa Delta chapter in Oregon.
