Career Planning Online

Linn-Benton Community College offers award winning, innovative and effective career planning programs. All ages from high school to college to "midlife career changers" have benefited from the exciting and revealing structured exercises designed to answer the questions, "Who am I?" "What do I want?" and "How do I get it?"

Through these CPO programs you will become aware of your personal and occupational values, interests, skills and personality. You will learn how to research the most current career information using the Internet. You will also demonstrate goal-setting and decision-making techniques to clarify and simplify your career planning now and in the future.

There are two Internet versions of Career Planning Online available to you:
CPO College Version is a 3 credit college transfer level course comprised of interactive activities, textbook readings, online quizzes, midterm and final, and online discussion room. This popular class has filled to capacity every term since its conception in 1998. Evaluations from students are consistently positive.
Student cost is per credit and anyone (high school age or above) can register for this college class. CPO is licensed for use at other colleges and universities on a term by term fee structure. You may view sample pages by contacting lynn.bain@linnbenton.edu

CPO HS/Agency Version is an interactive online program that provides high schools and agencies with a career-planning product that is user-friendly, engaging, and versatile. The CPO project was created in response to requests from high school counselors for an "in-house" version of HD 208 for their students. The local counselor, instructor or school-to-work specialist has the flexibility to facilitate the Discussion Room, Quiz and Activity components and to track students' progress through the modules. CPO may also be utilized as an Independent Study program.

Cost is based on a school/agency user fee. The school/agency controls enrollment in their individualized CPO program. You may view sample pages by contacting lynn.bain@linnbenton.edu

College Now version of CPO is available for dual high school/college credit.

The CPO programs were designed by Lynn Bain, MS, a career counselor with more than 18 years career guidance experience at LBCC. Ms Bain is the recipient of the NCCET Exemplary Program Award in Distance Education and the 2000 Les Adkins Award for Career Guidance Excellence.
