WR95 COLLEGE WRITING FUNDAMENTALS
If your placement score places you in WR95 College Writing Fundamentals, you can anticipate grammar review and writing exercises to help you build writing fluency.

In WR95, students will review the writing processes, purposes and basic conventions of standard written English by combining sentences and by writing 5 short to medium length papers. Students will need to pass a departmental final exam during finals week (worth 30%) that will test student abilities to write paragraphs and demonstrate editing and proofreading skills for standard written English.

Students successfully completing WR95 with a 'C' grade or better may advance directly to WR121 Composition IF they pass a challenge test. Most students would move from successfully completing WR95 to WR115. Contact your instructor for more information.


WR115 INTRODUCTION TO COLLEGE WRITING
If your placement score places you in WR115 Introduction to College Writing, you can anticipate much emphasis on critical reading and writing skills required for your college-level work.

In WR115, students will develop their reading and writing skills, write a minimum of 5 paragraphs and 3 essays (50%), complete a variety of in-class writing activities (20%), and pass a departmental final exam during finals week (worth 30%) that will test student abilities to:

  • write a summary and a critical response to a short reading passage,
  • demonstrate reasonable knowledge and competence in using the writing process, critical reading skills, proofreading skills, the concept of documenting sources, and writing conventions.
