How to Register
This page will tell you how to register for classes at LBCC and how to add a class after you have registered.
Please choose which of the following descriptions fits you.
- I am a fully-admitted student but I have never taken a class at LBCC. I want to enroll full time, receive financial aid, and/or get priority registration.
- I am a continuing, fully-admitted student.
- I am a non-credit or part-time student. (I am not fully admitted, I am taking 11 credits or less, I have not applied for financial aid, and I do not qualify for priority registration).
IF YOU ARE A FULLY ADMITTED STUDENT AND YOU HAVE NEVER TAKEN A CLASS AT LBCC but you want to enroll full time, receive financial aid, and/or get priority registration, follow these five steps:
Step 1: Apply online at www.linnbenton.edu/go/apply
or
Fill out the pdf version of the Application for Admission and submit it, along with the $30 fee, to the Admissions Office in one of the following ways:
- In person - Go to the Admissions Office in Takena Hall on the Albany Campus. Pay your $30 fee by credit card or check (made payable to LBCC).
- By fax - 541-917-4868. Pay the $30 fee by credit card.
- By mail - Send to: Admissions Office, 6500 Pacific Blvd. SW, Albany, OR 97321-3755. You may pay by check or credit card.
If you are transferring credits from another college or university, you must have that school send an official transcript to the LBCC Admissions Office and you must complete an LBCC Transfer Credit Evaluation Request form.
Step 2: Schedule a Placement Exam (CPT). Call the Assessment Center at 541-917-4781 and schedule a time to take the test or, if you would like to have the test waived, submit a petition form to the Admissions Office, along with supporting documents.
Step 3: Explore Your Financial Aid Options. Contact our Financial Aid Office in Takena Hall on the Albany campus, 541-917-4850, or visit www.linnbenton.edu/go/financial-aid. Fill out and submit your Free Financial Aid Federal Assistance (FAFSA) form at www.fafsa.ed.gov
Step 4: If you have a documented disability that will impact you at college, go to www.linnbenton.edu/go/ds and access the How to Get Started forms that you will need to submit, or contact the Disability Coordinator either on campus at Red Cedar Hall (RCH-105), at ODS@linnbenton.edu, by phone at 541-917-4690, or via Oregon Telecommunications Relay TTD at 1-800-735-2900 or 1-800-735-1232.
Step 5: Attend an orientation/advising session. You must attend an orientation/advising session before you can register. You will receive a “Notice of Admission” in the mail that will tell you the date and time of your session. Immediately following your session, you may register using WebRunner or at the Registration Counter in Takena Hall. Click here for a flash tutorial on using WebRunner. Note: If you are under 18 years of age, you must provide proof of high school or GED completion. You may register for up to 11 credits during open registration.
IF YOU ARE A CONTINUING, FULLY ADMITTED STUDENT:
If you are a fully admitted student and were fully enrolled any previous term, you can register using WebRunner beginning on the registration date for continuing admitted students (see the Academic Calendar for the exact date). Registration priority is based on the number of credits you currently are taking plus the credits you previously earned at LBCC. To find out how many hours you have at LBCC, check your registration status on WebRunner (click Check Your Registration Status under 'Registration') or ask at the Registration counter in Takena Hall (photo I.D. is required). WebRunner will show you your actual registration slot and will indicate if you have a 'hold' in effect. Please verify your status before attempting to register.
IF YOU ARE A NON-CREDIT OR PART-TIME STUDENT
(you are not fully admitted, you are taking 11 credits or less, you have not applied for financial aid, and you do not qualify for priority registration):
How to Add a Class
You may add a class in one of two ways.
- Fill out a Schedule Change form and turn it in at the Registration Counter in Takena Hall, or
- Make your Schedule Change via WebRunner. (If you use WebRunner, be sure to submit your changes.)
You must add classes before deadlines listed below. Class length is based on the number of weeks the class is scheduled to meet. (A week is defined as 12:01 a.m. Monday to 11:59 p.m. Sunday.) When a deadline falls at the end of a week, your registration must be processed by Sunday at 11:59 p.m.
Deadline to Register/Add Course(s)
- 1-day class: Day of class
- 1-week class*: Day prior to 2nd class meeting
- 2-week class**: Day prior to the 1st class of the 2nd week
- 3 weeks or longer: End of 2nd week of class
The deadline to register or add open-entry classes (marked O in the footnote column of the Schedule of Classes) is as follows:
- 3- to 9-week classes: Day prior to last week of class
- 10+ week classes: End of 9th week of class
*A 1-week class meets more than one day during the same week (Monday-Sunday).
** A 2-week class meets at least once during two different term weeks. A term week is Monday through Sunday. (Classes 3 weeks or longer meet at least once during each term week of the class). Exception to the above deadlines is as follows: If the 1st day of class is on a Friday, Saturday, or Sunday, the registration/add deadline is extended to the following Monday. Registering or adding a class after the class begins generally requires the instructor's signature (see deadlines in the table above). Requests to add courses after the published Add Deadlines (above) may result in a $25-per-course Late Add Fee. No class will be added after 5 p.m. on Friday of the 9th week of classes. Verifying registration is the student' responsibility.
