Registration Steps

Priority registration for continuing, fully admitted students

If you are a fully admitted student and were fully enrolled any previous term, you can register using SIS beginning on the registration date for continuing admitted students (see the Academic Calendar for exact date). Registration priority is based on on your currently registered and earned LBCC hours. To learn how many hours you have at LBCC, check your registration status on SIS (click Check Your Registration Status under 'Registration') or ask at the Registration counter in Takena Hall (photo I.D. is required).
SIS, will show you your actual registration slot and will indicate if you have a hold in effect. Please verify your status before attempting to register.

New students (wanting priority registration and/or applying for financial aid)

Step 1: Any new student wishing to become fully admitted must complete an application for admission and submit it, along with $25, to the Admissions Office in Takena Hall. For more information, call 917-4811.

Step 2: Schedule a Placement Exam (CPT) by calling the Assessment Center at 917-4781 or submit a petition with supporting documents to waive the test. Petition forms are available from the Admissions Forms and Applications page.

Step 3: You must attend an orientation/advising session before you register. The "Notice of Admission" that you receive in the mail will identify the date and time of your orientation/advising appointment. Immediately following your orientation/advising session, you may register using SIS or at the Registration counter in Takena Hall. If you are under 18 years of age, you must provide proof of high school or GED completion. You may register for up to 11 credits during open registration.

Non-credit and part-time students (without financial aid and without priority registration)

If you have taken a class at LBCC in the past, you may register using our SIS (Web) registration system during open registration (see the Academic Calendar for exact date). If you have never taken a class at LBCC or at one of our community education centers, you must complete a Student Data Form and submit it to the Admissions Office in Takena Hall at least three days prior to your enrollment. (A form is available on page 9 of the printed schedule, or you can download a pdf version from Admissions Forms and Applications page, or pick one up at the Admissions Office or at any community center.) Information from the data sheet must be entered into the student information system before you can access the Web registration system. Please allow three business days for processing.

Adding a Class - Registration Deadlines
In the list below, class length is based on the number of weeks the class is scheduled to meet. (A week is defined as 12:01 a.m. Monday to 11:59 p.m. Sunday.) When a deadline falls at the end of a week, your registration must be processed by Sunday at 11:59 p.m.

Deadline to Register/Add Course(s)

  • 1-day class: Day of class
  • 1-week class*: Day prior to 2nd class meeting
  • 2-week class**: Day prior to the 1st class of the 2nd week
  • 3 weeks or longer: End of 2nd week of class

The deadline to register or add open-entry classes (marked O in the footnote column of the Schedule of Classes) is as follows:

  • 3- to 9-week classes: Day prior to last week of class
  • 10+ week classes: End of 9th week of class

*A 1-week class meets more than one day during the same week (Mon-Sun).
** A 2-week class meets at least once during two different term weeks. A term week is Monday thru Sunday. (Classes 3 weeks or longer meet at least once during each term week of the class). Exception to the above deadlines is as follows: If the first day of class is on a Friday, Saturday, or Sunday, the registration/add deadline is extended to the following Monday. Registering or adding a class after the class begins generally requires the instructor's signature (see deadlines in the table above). Requests to add courses after the published Add Deadlines (above) may result in a $25-per-course Late Add Fee. No class will be added after 5 p.m. on Friday of the ninth week of classes. Verifying registration is the student' responsibility.

Withdrawing from Classes - (Dropping a Class After the Refund Deadline)
You may withdraw from a class or withdraw from school by turning in a Schedule Change form at the Registration Counter or an Extended Learning center or by using the SIS system. (When using SIS, be sure to SUBMIT your changes.) If you withdraw from a course after the 'drop with refund' deadline, you will receive a W grade in the class, you will forfeit all claims to refunds, and you will be financially responsible for any tuition and fees. Failure to drop a class may impact your grade point average and financial aid eligibility. Students are not withdrawn from class for non-attendance after the first week of class. You, the student, are responsible for withdrawing—not faculty or staff. Withdraw deadlines are based on the following:

Class Length Withdraw Deadline
One-day class Day prior to class
One-week class* Day prior to 2nd class meeting
Two-week class** Day prior to the 1st class of the 2nd week
Three week class End of 2nd week of class
4- or 5-week class End of 3rd week of class
6- or 7-week class End of 4th week of class
8- or 9-week class End of 6th week of class
10 or more weeks End of 7th week of class

*A one-week class meets more than one day the same week (Mon-Sun).
**A two- week class meets at least once during two different term weeks.
A term week is Monday thru Sunday. (Classes three weeks or longer meet as least once during each term week of the class).
