DEIT projects support LBCC's college wide goal of becoming more strategic in our technological investments and in our use of technology. LBCC will continue to support true "education at a distance," and our instructional technology investments will continue to support rich, "face to face" learning environments. This goal requires a continued commitment to quality instruction and coordinated planning of faculty and staff training, development of technology-based curricula, and decisions about equipment within departments and college-wide. This goal also affects how we deliver student learning opportunities and how we provide access to quality education, training and information for students and staff.
If you are interested in working on ITEC subcommittees or projects, please contact Ann Adams at 917-4357, Carol Schaafsma at 917-4201, or one of the subcommittee chairs listed below. Thanks!
| Subcommittees/Chairs | Subcommittee Goals |
|---|---|
| Training Ann Adams, 917-4357 | To define what LBCC's tool kit includes and what all levels of staff need for hardware, software, and technology-related training. To encourage better faculty use of technology and/or participation in distributed learning through diverse opportunities for training, technical support, and better use or acquisition of resources. Year End Report Taming the Technology Tiger Technology Assistance Survey |
| Technology Initiatives Paul Hagood, 917-4640 | To consider issues important to planning that can affect the quality, depth and effectiveness of LBCC's distributed learning programs. This may involve looking at accreditation standards for distance learning, reviewing the guidelines followed in spending LBCC's Technology Fee, to consider how college resources are used to support distributed projects (planning, innovating, implementing, and maintaining), and to review the governance of DEIT itself. |
| Student Support Bruce Clemetson 917-4807 | To improve student support systems and resources with student success, recruitment and retention as high priorities. To work on Student Boot Camp resources that will help them improve their technology skills. To improve the college's technical infrastructure (navigation, content and resources) and to serve students better with a more comprehensive and integrated online web presence that includes student services, credit card payments, marketing and communications, and other support services. This team will continue to identify issues affecting students and staff, including ADA issues. |
Web Presence Marlene Propst, 917-4784 | To provide technical support and expertise in the ongoing development of the LBCC web site. |
Technology Infrastructure (Tech Fee) Alan Heywood, 917-4640 | The Technology Committee meets quarterly to budget, prioritize, and allocate instructional classroom and distributed learning technology resources funded by LBCC's technology fees. |
