- Why Go into Health and Human Performance
Why Should You Go into Health and Human Performance?
The Health and Human Performance Department offers two Associate of Science (AS) degrees: Health Promotion and Behavior or Health Management and Policy. These are designed for students planning to transfer to Oregon State University to earn a baccalaureate degree in Public Health.
The Health Promotion and Behavior degree is for students planning on working in the field of public health in a non-clinical setting. This includes planning and evaluating programs related to healthy behavior across the lifespan, as well as promoting preventive programs that improve health in the general population. Students choosing the Health Management Policy AS degree are preparing for careers in healthcare organizations or agencies as an administrator or manager.
For students planning to transfer to Western Oregon University or another four-year institution, an AAOT is the recommended option for those wishing to teach health in the K-12 system. Each university has different requirements. Please plan to meet with your advisor to determine the requirements and appropriate classes for successful articulation.
