Lt. Col. Mark A. Cook LTC serves as an Engineer with the U.S. Army Reserve out of Tega Cay, South Carolina. Mr. Cook says that as a kid he had to work hard to get though school, and that LBCC taught him how to be a better writer and improve his study skills. He earned his LBCC Associate degree in 1983, a bachelor's in civil engineering from Oregon Institute of Technology, a master's in engineering technology from Murray State University, and a master’s in public administration from the University of Oklahoma. He says LBCC provided the foundation he needed to believe in himself and to pursue his goals. He was stationed in Iraq as Commander of the 763rd Engineer Detachment, and served in South Korea, Saudi Arabia and Afghanistan. In civilian life, Mr. Cook works as a civil engineer for the city of Charlotte, North Carolina. A decorated soldier, Mr. Cook was awarded the Bronze Star Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Army Achievement Medal, National Defense Service Medal, and Southwest Asia Service Medal.
