Periwinkle Child Development Center
~ Hours of Operation and Calendar ~
The Periwinkle Child Development Center offers full day/full year care from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Friday. There are several different enrollment options for different age groups, including full year care, academic year care, kindergarten, and summer care.
PLEASE NOTE: The entire LBCC campus will be closed for in-service on September 13, 2005 and on April 13, 2006. The Periwinkle Center will also be closed during those two days.
Toddlers:
The Toddler program operates on a full year schedule. Full day care is provided every day,
with the exception of the following holidays and LBCC in-service days (dates listed are
for 2005/2006): LBCC fall in-service (Sept. 13), Veterans Day (Nov. 11), Thanksgiving and
the day after (Nov. 24-25), Christmas/New Year's break (Dec. 23 through Jan. 2),
Martin Luther King Day (Jan. 16), Presidents Day (Feb. 20), LBCC spring in-service
(April 13), Memorial Day (May 29), the 4th of July, and Labor Day (Sep. 4).
Preschool:
Parents of preschoolers can choose to enroll their children for full year care,
following the calendar described above or, if they are LBCC students, they can enroll
their children for the LBCC academic year. If children are enrolled for the academic year,
then full day care is provided for every day that LBCC has regularly scheduled classes for
fall, winter, and spring terms. During those days when academic year children do not attend
the PCDC, the preschool classes may be combined due to lower enrollment. At all times
appropriate group sizes and adult/child ratios are maintained.
Kindergarten:
The PCDC Kindergarten program follows the Albany public school calendars, beginning the
school year on September 6 and ending on June 15th. The PCDC kindergarten will be closed
for major holidays, as well as the public school winter and spring breaks. Care will
continue to be provided (at no extra charge) at the PCDC during public school grading and
in-service days.
