Linn-Benton Community College
~ Education/Child & Family Studies Department ~

Associate of Science

The AS is designed for transfer to Oregon State University. LBCC's Child and Family Studies program is linked to OSU's Human Development and Family Studies degree (HDFS): Early Childhood option. OSU's HDFS prepares students for application to the Master of Arts in Teaching program and for entry into careers with young children and their families.

Students complete one year of general education requirements and one year of OSU's HDFS program requirements while enrolled at LBCC.

Career options include: early childhood education, elementary school teaching, or work in social service programs for children and families as case managers, parent educators, and family advocates.

Students interested in a degree in Liberal Studies at OSU, preparing for the Master of Arts in teaching, may also complete an AS degree at LBCC.
