The two-year Associate of Applied Science degree is a program for students who plan to start to work after graduation in a child care center or in another setting with preschool children.
Graduates are trained to become lead teachers. Half of the classes meet the college's general education requirements. Half focus on specialized training to work with young children. Courses include: child development, family relationships, lesson planning, and practical experience in a preschool classroom.
Many classes are offered in late afternoons or evenings. Graduates who elect to continue their education at a four-year university can complete a transfer degree within two terms at LBCC. If they enroll in a university with the AAS, all of the coursework will count as program requirements or electives.
