Periwinkle Child Development Center
~ Enrollment and Fees ~
Enrollment Criteria
Toddlers
Children may enter the toddler program when they are 18 months old. Potty training is
not required. The classroom is composed of up to 12 children ages 18 - 30 months. The Child
Care Division requires that children be exactly 2½ years old (30 months) before they
can be enrolled in a preschool class. How quickly a child is able to transition to a
preschool classroom after they turn 30 months old depends upon the available openings in
the preschool class at that time; therefore children sometimes stay in the toddler room a
little beyond 30 months if a preschool slot is not immediately available.
Preschool
Children who are 2½ years of age and above, but not yet eligible for kindergarten,
will be enrolled in one of our preschool classrooms. These rooms serve 20 children each;
one classroom is made up of younger preschoolers, and the other of older preschoolers.
The actual placement of the children within these groups each year depends on the ages of
the children enrolled that year. The Oregon Child Care Division requires that children be
at least 2½ years old (30 months) before they can attend a preschool class.
Kindergarten
The PCDC kindergarten is offered in partnership with the Greater Albany Public School
District, and adheres to their enrollment criteria. Children must have turned 5 years of
age before September 1 to be eligible for the Kindergarten Program. For children residing
in the Albany School District, the morning portion of kindergarten is free of charge, so
their monthly bill is reduced. Children residing outside of the Albany school district may
still enroll in the PCDC full day kindergarten program, but parents must pay the full fee,
or else apply for a district transfer.
Enrollment is on a first-come, first-served basis, and is open to community families as well to LBCC students and staff. If space is available, children may be enrolled at any point in the year. The PCDC does maintain a wait list.
Fees for Enrollment at the Family Resource Center
Toddlers: $550 per month
Preschool - Full year care: $440 per month
Preschool - Academic year care: $1365 per academic term
Kindergarten for children enrolled in the Greater Albany Public School District: $280 per month for 10 months
Kindergarten for children who live outside the Albany School District: $475 per month for 10 months
Public School Closure Days: Care is provided for children ages 5-10 on days that the Albany and Corvallis public schools are closed for in-service. The cost is $15 per day, meals included.
There is a $50 waitlist and enrollment fee to secure a place for a child at the PCDC. $10 of this fee is a non-refundable materials fee. $40 is refundable if your child withdraws more than 10 days prior to the start date. For families that enroll at the Center, the $40 is credited to the first month of your child's enrollment. There is also a $4 fee for insurance per child/per fiscal year; this insurance is required by LBCC (this policy has a $100 deductible.)
Child care payment is due on the first of the month. LBCC student parents can also elect to have their child care fees taken directly out of their financial aid each term. Parents can pay by mail, phone, internet, or at the LBCC cashier window. Families must provide 2 weeks' written notice to withdraw a child from the Center.
The PCDC provides a breakfast, hot lunches and afternoon snack for all children. Meals are included in the child care fee.
