The Spring 2012 Campus Civility Survey was administered to both students and faculty/staff here at LBCC. It contained open-ended questions that asked about the respondents' definition of civility and some of their most often-witnessed campus behaviors as well as multiple matrix questions that dealt with the frequency and acceptability of various lists of behaviors from both in and out of the classroom, their agreement with and the perceived importance of a variety of temperature check statements about the LBCC environment, and their opinion on a handful of potential actions to increase civility on campus.
Communications is a vital process in every organization. Effective communication means the right messages are getting to the right people at the right time in ways that are easy to understand,accurate, accessible and appealing to use. When communication flows accurately and effectively, LBCC has a better chance of achieving its goals of student success and completion. The Campus Communications Survey was administered to LBCC faculty and staff during Spring Term of 2012. It contained frequency of use and level of interest rating scales for a variety of communication avenues as well as temperature check questions regarding the overall strength of college communications and various open-ended questions.

The survey, administered to community college students, asks questions that assess institutional practices and student behaviors that are correlated highly with student learning and student retention. LBCC conducts an annual email/mail/phone survey of the prior academic year's Transfer and Career Technical Education (CTE) graduates to learn about their employment and academic activities since graduating. We also ask how satisfied they are that the training and education they received while attending LBCC prepared them to compete with others in their field.
"The Survey of Entering Student Engagement (SENSE) helps community and technical colleges focus on the "front door" of the college experience. Grounded in research about what works in retaining and supporting entering students, SENSE collects and analyzes data about institutional practices and student behaviors in the earliest weeks of college. Every few years, LBCC conducts a survey of credit students to learn how they experience our academic and campus environment. Questions focus on the following core service areas: registration and enrollment; business services; student support; campus climate; publications and communications; and overall impressions of LBCC.
