Surgical Technicians/Technologists, or operating room technicians, assist a head surgeon in surgical operations. They prepare operating rooms, arrange and sterilize equipment, and help doctors during surgeries. They often prep the patient and operating room for procedures, and can assist the surgical team by holding organs in place or using retractors during surgery.
Students who successfully complete a certificate in Surgical Technician/Technologist will:
- Demonstrate competence in the technological aspects of the surgical technologist profession.
- Provide surgical patient care and comfort with empathy and cultural competence.
- Demonstrate competence in surgical technologist duties, procedures and cases.
