The primary goal in the Machine Tool program is to train students for a career in the machinist's trade. Generally, students completing a degree or certificate program will enter the job market as machinist trainees. A CNC machine operator position is often the entry level job for our graduates. Major employers include: industrial machinery manufacturers, plastic products manufacturers, metalworking machinery manufacturers, motor vehicle manufacturers, aircraft and parts manufacturers, metal forging and stamping manufacturers, and temporary worker agencies.
The Machine Tool curriculum far exceeds the requirements for a machine operator position. After successful employment for a period of time, our graduates may advance to a job as a machinist, set-up person, inspector or programmer. Our goal is to train machinists, which requires formal training as well as on the job experience.
