The Commuter is an award-winning student-run newspaper. Our adviser, Rob Priewe, brings twenty years of experience working for the Corvallis Gazette-Times.
Our reporting represents the student body and faculty through relevant events, topical issues and extraordinary achievements of those on campus. It is our goal to be current on journalistic trends and creative with content and design as we train to transition into the industry.
The Commuter staff is diverse in interest: news reporters, photographers, fiction and opinion writers, poets and sports writers. Anyone is welcome to bring their particular talent to the paper.
Contact the Editor-in-Chief for interest in team involvement or suggestions.
Talent grants are available to those who contribute on a regular basis as a member of the staff. Available grant money varies per term and is dependent on the position at the paper and level of involvement. Specific questions should be directed to Adviser Rob Priewe.
We are a weekly publication. During fall, winter and spring terms, we distribute printed editions every Wednesday on the Albany campus, as well as the outlying campuses (Benton Center, Lebanon Center, Health Occupations Center, ATTC and Sweet Home).
During summer term, we print a monthly edition and post online at LBCommuter.com.
