We the membership of Phi Theta Kappa would like to introduce the Freshman Advocacy Program, where you might find the help you need to get you on track to college success. As a group, PTK can offer a wide variety of experiences to share to help you keep graduation in sight and make the most of your community college experience. We have the knowledge, connections and advise that could potentially save you a lot of time and money while you attend LBCC and/or work towards transferring to a four-year university. We can be contacted at email@example.com.
Daniel Adams - President
I am an artist and a designer who worked on mobile games in the San Francisco Bay area for 6 years. I expect to graduate at the end of spring term, 2018 before moving on to state college to get my bachelors of science. I joined the Alpha Tau Upsilon chapter of Phi Theta Kappa in fall of 2016, and have been an active member since. Among my many passions, I am a home brewer, which straddles the line between cooking and science. I have been playing hockey for twenty plus years, which demands teamwork to succeed. I am also passionate about video games and game development as tools to expand one's minds and as a medium to tell a story. My ultimate goal once I graduate is to work on future technologies that improve and simplify our daily life. I am the current President of the LBCC chapter of PTK.
Major: Computer Science
Payton Hartsell – Vice President
My position is to assist the President in maintaining order. I work closely with the President to help our regular meetings run smoothly and to make sure all committees are on schedule. I keep track of all the records of the Honors in Action work and inform members and guests of updates. I have four cows, which are like family to me, and also a cat and a dog. I love to dance, go camping, shoot my bow, and spend time with family and friends. I received my American degree through FFA and am currently a member of Oregon FFA State Alumni. I will be attending Utah State University in the fall of 2018, where I will be studding Agriculture Education.
Majors: Agriculture Business Management and Agricultural Sciences
Chloe Johnston – Head of Outreach
Being Head of Outreach this year it is my job to reach out to community, and that includes finding opportunities for our chapter to volunteer. Our PTK group is currently involved with the Boys & Girls Clubs, food donations, and environmental stewardship, but we are always on the hunt for more good causes to work with. I am a psychology major, and my end goal is a Ph.D. in clinical psychology. After achieving said degree, I would like to open up my own private practice with an emphasis on child and family counseling. My current interests center around my school, work, and PTK, but when I’m not super busy I enjoy partaking in a good book. I am also on the hunt for the perfect cup of coffee, if such a thing exists.
Alena Santos - Head of Events
I am in charge of organizing and overseeing PTK events on campus. I hope to help create a ton of fun and interactive events that everyone can participate in. I hope this year with the other PTK officers and members is happy, memorable, and productive. I am a psychology major, but I am interested in pursuing an additional major in the future. I plan to attend OSU after graduating. I would love to travel the world to experience other cultures and learn more about people. I also love animals, music, books, and makeup.
Susan Ibarra – Head of Media
As a media officer, I oversee our social media presence. I share information about past events, encourage participation in future events, and share ways to get involved in PTK on and off campus. Find us on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram! (Search for “PTK Alpha Tau Upsilon”) My friends and family describe me as an outgoing person. I believe that is because I am a very silly and giggly. Another reason why is because I enjoy being active like going hiking, exercising, and more. I do have a big appetite, so anywhere where there is food I will be there. If I had to describe myself, I would say I am a very friendly person with a good sense of humor.
